 WINE WHINE

😦  I know, I know, it has been WAY too long since I wrote a Wine & Cheese post! In fact I couldn’t find a single one from 2016 when I searched my archives….oops! So, since it was my most read post(s), I’m bringing it back!

😦  Figures that I’m off work today, because the past several have been beautiful, sunny days but not today. No, today it is overcast and spitting rain now and then. This is not making me very pleased.

😦  I was so hoping my new pedometer would arrive before I had to go run errands, but not yet.

😦  Seriously, I know that some things are not visible, and there is maybe a reason someone is parked in a handicapped spot that is not evident, so this isn’t about you. But darlin’, if you can park there, then walk the entire super-sized grocery store, mall etc, you do NOT need that spot. Or if you park there only to leave said person who does need it, sitting in the car the entire time you are doing the shopping, SHAME ON YOU! Some of us have to wrestle a wheelchair out of the car and get between our car and the next one to get someone out and into that chair. I get that some folks need it on one day and not the next, but if it is not the day you need it, or your handicapped passenger is remaining in the car, then please, find another spot so those who do happen to need it that day can use it!

CHEESE

🙂  Enough of that, time to smile! I’m celebrating today, it is #woohooWednesday and I have a woohoo! I’m down 14 pounds today, the end of week 3 in my program to take back my health! That means 56 pounds of pressure is OFF of my knees! I have energy like you cannot imagine, I can barely sit still! And it is all science based eating, no supplements/pills, just food!

🙂  I’m rocking this 2nd shift life of mine! It is like having two full days in one! On first shift I’d come home and be tired, didn’t feel like doing much of anything. Or I’d fall asleep while trying to do some reading or crocheting. Now I get 8 hours of great sleep a night, rise by 8am, have 6 hours to knock it out of the park with whatever I need to do, then go to work! I have a ton of energy at work, thanks in part to my new lease on health as I drop the weight, and I’m ready to sleep when I get home! I LOVE this!

🙂  My job..what can I say? I love working in health care, love being and STNA/MA-C and I love my sweet dementia residents! I never imagined loving a job as much as I do this one!

😦  I decided that a flu shot was in order, since it is moving through everyone I know it seems.  My arm hurts!  I rubbed it like they say to do but dang it still painful.

😦  Read, after the fact, that this year’s flu vaccine is only about 50% effective, as they guessed wrong about the strains that would be going around and missed the most prevalent one.  Oh well, 50% is better than none at all.

😦  My favorite pair of jeans are falling apart.  I bought them already slightly loved at the thrift store near by.  It’s my favorite way to buy jeans, already soft and broken in.  But this pair is starting to rip apart and are so well worn that it is going to be time to get new ones.

🙂  The scale is moving D-O-W-N again!  I have a serious goal so that helps.  And I’m taking intentional actions to achieve my goal, like logging every bite that enters my mouth, every ounce of water, every minute of activity and walking distance.  I refuse to give up.

🙂  It’s pretty awesome when you hit the end of your day, and have been so careful to eat right that you have to have a beer in order to hit your minimum calorie range on your SparkPeople account!  That is just breaking my heart!

🙂  I got my roots done and sporting pink in my bangs again this week.  Was purple last time for The Badge as that is his favorite color. So glad I went back to blond.

😦  It is one dreary week here in the greater Cincinnati area.  Rain, more rain, grey skies, more rain.  It is hard to keep a positive attitude and remain upbeat when all one wants to do is SLEEP.

😦  Sleep is just what I did too, yesterday.  I had given blood earlier in the afternoon and while sitting at my desk working on my book I got SO sleepy.  I thought, “just lay down for a few minutes” and woke up nearly 3 hours later!  I was out so hard I missed my weekly call from my business coach.  😦

😦  My oatmeal is cold.  SIGH…I should have focused on eating it faster I suppose.

CHEESE

🙂  I love living here in the Diva Den.  We have, as I have said before, more fun than the law allows.  Last night while getting ready to watch NCIS (which means mom makes popcorn and we all grab a beverage and hit the couches in front of the big screen), my niece came down to find her mom and sang “mama” and I responded, “just killed a man” and off we went through the lyrics to Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen.  Each of us would sing a line and some together.  We live in a musical sometimes and it’s so fun!

🙂  Saturday evening my brother invited us to come over for Sunday breakfast.  Usually I am a stickler about nothing interfering with church, but family time is so rare and important to me that I decided to go.  I am SO glad I did!  My 9yo nieces (3 of them) had set the table (my sister-in-law is teaching them all about where things go on the table, which fork to use etc) and made menus.  They were our servers.  My brother and his wife cooked, and it was awesome!  Omelets and pancakes, sausage, egg sandwiches and blueberry muffins.  We all enjoyed it very much.  Very sweet memories made that day.

🙂  The plus of donating blood the other day was the awesome Bengal’s jersey that they gave every donor.  I love it.  That and the guy who was my phlebotomist did such a great job I didn’t bruise this time, and he got me on the first try.  I have a tendon in both arms that sits snug against the vein they like to use, and my veins like to roll a bit they tell me.  But he was good, and I am very grateful.  I have a blood type that is somewhat rare, only 9% of the population has it, so I get called often.  I don’t mind, it’s the least I can do to give back.

🙂  I am SO excited about an upcoming event I want to do at church, GONOLA!  Our church encourages us to GO as a church and make a difference.  They are doing another trip to New Orleans to help with the ongoing rebuilding there from hurricane Katrina.  Who knew they still have SO many homes to rebuild.  Next summer, in July (yep hottest days of the year there) we will get on a bus, up to 200 of us, and go down and build homes, do VBS with local kids, clean up blighted properties, all in humidity at 100% and extreme heat.  I cannot wait!  We get some down time to see and experience the city.  I cannot wait to start raising my support for this trip, it will be wonderful to go there and get my hands dirty and work hard to help someone else.

😦  Not real happy that it is cloudy and looks like it is going to rain.  I wanted to go do a brochure toss but that doesn’t work well if rain is going to come down on the brochures.  And it looks like severe storms later could be a possibility.  That doesn’t thrill me at all.  WOW and now the sun is peeping through to warm up that unstable air, just what we need.

😦  I think I have pink eye, or some sort of eye infection similar to that.  This really sucks but hoping it will go away with some drops and compresses so I don’t have to spend money to go to the doctor.

😦  Really not a whine…but that is it for the unhappy faces.  Oh and remember Long Beach? He’s back again. Bad penny? Booger on your finger you cannot shake off? Dunno but I know I’m NOT moving to California and I’m pretty sure he isn’t coming here, if he truly exists as who he claims.

CHEESE

🙂  This working from home thing is awesome on many fronts, not the least of which is that I can sleep in nearly 2 more hours and still be working my full 8 hour day.  I love it.  I just need to keep the focus!

🙂  I got to spend part of my day with my favorite little Snugglebug, my grandson.  I adore that little man so much!  He is talking more and while I don’t always understand I do get most of it.  He will be 2 years old the day after Christmas, he is just growing up way too fast!

🙂  Baby watch is on!  My next grandson could arrive, any day now.  I’m just TOO excited.

🙂  Happy Birthday to my mom!!! My new business partner, we have such fun together.

🙂  All but 2 of the items on my lengthy to-do list for work today are finished.  I make the list up the night before, so I have a game plan each day.  Some regular days will be set up as I go along and tweak but so far this is working out well.

😦  Finding myself unemployed just sucked.  Yes, I was pissed.  Yes, I did let them know how I felt about it.  Yes, it is water under the bridge today.

😦  I was all set to dive into my business yesterday, but my body had other plans.  I woke up all night after going to bed Monday, puking my brains out.  I am pretty sure that based on how sore I am, my body was trying to expel my toes inside out by way of my mouth.  Thankfully, living here with the other Divas who happen to be nurses, they had just the thing to stop the unstoppable vomiting and I slept most of the day. UGH.  This “life is all about how you handle plan B” stuff is getting old fast.

😦  My poor dog is so confused.  She thinks every time I go to leave the house now, that it is time to head to work.  She doesn’t understand that we now work from home.  She is no doubt missing all of the attention and treats she got in the office.  Poor baby.  😦

CHEESE

🙂  I am now a full time Avon Lady.  I LOVE it.  I recovered from my virus enough to hit the ground running today and I’m praying my efforts pay off.  I meet my district sales manager for lunch tomorrow and I’m sure I can pick her brain for help.  She rocks and is excited for me that I am able to commit full time now.

🙂  Life IS all about how we handle Plan B and my attitude is great.  I see opportunity now to work for me, and make myself the one who is rich and not someone else.  My commissions are at 40% right now so that is worth my time.  I’m pushing for the 50% margin and for the bigger better team under me.  I’m SO excited.

🙂  My weight has continued to drop.  I haven’t seen the current number on the scale in years.  I’m happy about it and motivated.  Probably the one good thing that came from being sick is my appetite dropped off but that just means I can maintain better control of it now.

😦  My desk at the office looks like a tornado came through in the night.  This is not normal for me, I’m too OCD about order at the office, but lately we have just been so busy and I have too many projects going at once to keep up with the ‘hoarder’ appearance.  I plan to attack it Friday and get things back in order.

😦  The NextRadio app is not available with Verizon.  It uses way less battery and data (no doubt why it isn’t yet supported) and would be huge for me when walking so I could listen to K-LOVE.  Bad form, Verizon Wireless, really bad form!

😦  Nothing says “areyoufreakingkiddingme” like having your nose running, racing to grab a tissue, and you pull back a half inch wide piece because it tore apart. Grrrr….

CHEESE

🙂  Isn’t life awesome when there really isn’t much to complain about?  My ‘wine’ list is pretty slim, full of light-weight stuff.  I like it!

🙂  My office may not be in great order but it smells amazing!  My tart warmer is loaded up with Caribbean Teakwood scented wax and it is filling the room with a kick-butt aroma.

🙂  I changed the layout and over all look of my blog.  If you usually read this via email stop by and take a look.

🙂  The weather here has been outstanding!  I prefer to sleep with the windows open, drifting off to sleep to the sounds of crickets, frogs, and other  night creatures.  Inhaling the lavender oil for my sleep aroma therapy is also a huge help.  Menopause isn’t winning the sleep battle, this one is all mine!

🙂  My new planner from Erin Condren came this week and I LOVE IT!!!  Use that link and get $10 off because of my referral.  You can personalize them and they have other awesome stuff too.  It is one of this week’s big high moments!

😦  I am on the verge of totally giving up on the male side of the species.  Seriously.  I re-activated my dating profiles on a few sites recently and I’m beginning to think I might be far better off S-I-N-G-L-E.  My profile is so crystal clear about age, location and other criteria.  No one pays attention at all.  When I mention that I am not interested and why, things turn ugly.  I give you the most recent of these exchanges.

July 13, 2014

A sends me a picture of a wine bottle and 2 glasses:

A – 4usOK?

Me – Um, you are 91 miles away, that really isn’t local.

*He then sends me a ‘gift’, a virtual red rose*

A – small price for my prize

Me – sorry, just not into long distance

A – yes u r

Me – no I am really not

– ???????

Me – what is it you aren’t understanding?

A – nothing your done

Me – exactly

July 15th, 2014

A – your a bitch

Me – LOL because I don’t want to deal with long distances and set some boundaries for my relationships and life that you don’t happen to line up with you resort to name calling? Then you sir are certainly no gentleman.  Good luck in your search for your prize.

A – I want you ok, u want me

Me – I am not interested.  You have already shown me your true colors.

A – No, i’m yours get over it bitch

Me – Good bye

At this point I blocked him.  I seriously question the sanity of this individual.  He had responded but once I blocked him it all vanished.  Thankfully I made screen shots of it all and his profile.  Just wow.  He also needs some English lessons.

You can see why I am discouraged with the male population.  Most who contact me are WAY too old, WAY too young, still legally married (not an option), have no photos and are too far away.  Some talk of relocating if I’m “the one”. That just freaks me out and sends red flags flying all over the place.

🙂  It is SO gorgeous here!  Windows open all night, crickets singing in the dark and a gentle breeze coming in the window.  I slept like a downed tree.

🙂  The good sleep can also be attributed to the new memory foam topper on my bed.  HEAVEN!  It was all I had to get out of the bed and get ready for work.

🙂  Day 6 of the 24 Day Challenge from Advocare and I’m down 6 pounds.  I am doing a serious happy dance.  I have talked to many personal friends who have and are using this challenge and the products with great success, so I am more than happy to endorse this!

😦  Hey YOU!  Driving the BMW on 75N this morning in northern Kentucky, with JMORE on your plate.  Try that rear defrost option and clear that window off so next time you decide to squeeze into the high speed lane in front of me you can SEE that there wasn’t even assured cleared distance between me and the car I was following (I know that part is my fault) so there was no room for you, causing me to brake.  The semi behind me had to brake too and he was WAY the heck too close to my bumper.  Obviously driving a BMW doesn’t mean you have much gray matter in your skull.  Did you actually test for that driver’s license or find in a gumball machine?  Dorfwad!

😦  My doggie has mange.  SIGH…She is one hot little mess.  The poor baby.  I have some all natural, Neem items coming today from SwissJust that are excellent and made for treating head lice in humans.  I researched it a lot and found that this Neem is also recommended for treating mange without harsh chemicals.  Pray for Penny, she is miserable, I need this to work.

😦  For a brief moment this morning I thought perhaps the TV & cable at the office had putzed out on me.  It was on, then suddenly it went off, no power at all.  At first thinking it was a power outage, I noticed my fan was still on.  Hmmmm…I looked under the desk and saw that some how I had knocked the plug out of the power strip for the TV AND the cable box.  Go figure.  Of course the box goes through an entire re-boot cycle after the power returns. Grrrrrr.

CHEESE

🙂  The Restock Fairy was able to get even with the Knight for his failure to put a new roll of toilet paper on the roller when he used the last (see this confessional post if you don’t know to what I am referring).  I, in my tiara and wings, used the facilities in the master bath, and left an empty roll for him to find.  He was downstairs playing his drums and it was before dinner.  I knew at some point he would be the one to discover my dastardly deed if I could just hold out and not give in to my OCD desires to make that right.  FINALLY he started up the stairs and I waited to hear it….finally he called out for his Princess.  He came all the way downstairs, teasing me and laughing, to get me back up there to perform my superhero duties.  YAHOOO! WIN for me 🙂

🙂  It would seem I have another superhero power.  One so amazing that my wonderful Knight tells me he has extensively studied it.  Wow, must be utterly fascinating to him, right?  I snore!  Yes I do, I really snore!  Who knew it could actually be so outstanding that he studied it in depth!  He told me so!  He swears it doesn’t keep him awake, that he happens to be awake already when I snore, and that it isn’t so loud that it keeps him awake or anything.  Oh and with it comes the gift of falling asleep very quickly.  It seems I can break records for drifting off, and I’m always asleep before him, even when he is in bed and asleep before me, I beat him to dream land.  I don’t snore constant, per the snore student, no this master of the talent only does it periodically.  This despite nasal strips.  Guessing maybe I have issues?  Yes, I know, I DO have issues, but I meant with my nose and breathing.

🙂  Can you believe that my honey does not have a Snuggie??? Claims he wouldn’t be caught dead in one.  I, being a convert to the cult of Snuggie, am proud to say I own 3.  2 name brand, one spin-off.  He loves to snuggle, so he best be preparing to be caught curled up and breathing in one as we snuggle this winter.  I am sure I can find one that is printed for Michigan (his one and only fault – being a Wolverines fan).  Then I can have a 4th one, Ohio State, to sit on his lap when wearing it because Ohio State shall indeed crush Michigan this year, so the Buckeyes Snuggie needs to be on top of the Michigan one.  😉

😦  I really have only one whine today.  Yep just one, singular complaint.  I wish people driving around would come to realize that sunglasses are not a fashion accessory.  Sure, you can buy some really dazzling pairs and match them to your outfit, shoes or even your underpants.  But they are a NECESSITY when driving into the sunrise in the morning.  Because if you don’t have them on, you hit the brakes because you cannot see.  This causes the dreadful chain reaction of others hitting their brakes to avoid hitting you.  In some cases they are in the next lane and hit their brakes because they fear you might change lanes.  The guy driving in the lane next to that person and one or two cars back sees the brake lights and panics and hits his, unaware of why you two are braking but not wanting to be involved in whatever unseen danger is lurking feels he should join the little brake-light-engaged party.  Behind these folks others are forced to now brake and within seconds ya’ll have managed to bring hundreds and even thousands of cars on a major highway to a halt!

You sick, cheap-ass over achievers in stupidity need to exit the highway and go to any local gas station/stop-n-rob and buy some sunglasses.  Priced to move from $5-$55 you can get yourself some eye protection and get back on the road and join the ranks of those of us with brains who prepare for that big, bright orange ball in the sky each morning.

Meanwhile, I think the ‘high speed’, passing, far left lane should be reserved for those folks sporting protective eye-wear.  Those of us smart enough to actually be prepared for the morning blinded by the light arrival of sunshine should be rewarded for our choice to be ready for this event so WE can at least be moving!

Doesn’t matter if your choice of sunglasses makes you look like a super model, Lindsay Lohan after a serious bender, or those ‘birth control’ versions that will ensure you are unlikely to get laid anytime soon, just WEAR THEM!

CHEESE

🙂  I am in SUCH a great mood!  Mostly because I have opted to be.  My entire morning routine was messed up and out of sync and I just didn’t care.  I ROLLED with it!  I have no foundation on because I forgot to use it! WHO CARES! no one here warrants my concerns about how my face looks.  Music played in my head and I danced as I put on my face and then sang to the CD in my car all the way to work.  Off key and sounding like a buffalo caught in a trap I belted out several great songs all the way to work.

🙂  I have a wonderful man in my life!  We’re kinda like the Brady Bunch, but different!  He has 3 kids, just like Mike Brady, only one is a girl.  And he isn’t a gay actor portraying a straight man.  And we aren’t married.  I have moved in with my 3 babies.  All are girls, just like Carol Brady’s were, only mine are 4-legged furry types.  2 cats and one Yorkie dog.  And we don’t have a housekeeper/cook like Alice, so I’m not standing around snapping green beans, pretending to be cooking, while wearing a cute dress and pearls.  But that also means we don’t have the creeper butcher, Sam, dropping by to hit on our housekeeper.  But we’re a blended little bunch just like the Brady Bunch.  I LOVE my life, I’m happy.

🙂  I learned how to do a direct sales party online, so now I can do them for anyone across the country, expanding my client base.  That expands my income which hey, who can’t use a few more bucks?

WINE

😦  I really have NO tolerance for stupid drivers.  On the way in today, on the highway doing 70mph, I watched a semi barely avoid running into the rear end of a car in the lane 2 over from mine.  I have NO idea what the moron was doing, but he found himself on the tail end of the car in front of him and without looking swerved to his right barely missing the car as he shot into the other lane to his right.  Fortunately there was no one in that lane or he’d have caused a major accident.  Seriously people, put the damn cell phones down, books (yes I have seen people driving and reading books or newspapers!), makeup (really ladies, no one at the office needs to be that impressed that it’s worth risking your life and mine – paint the face at home or in the parking lot at the office) and just DRIVE!

😦  While I do love summer, not real fond of storms.  Severe ones could happen today, and I dislike that.  Yet we need that kind of weather here at work.  Severe storms mean lightening that causes house fires, and wind damage.  We get paid to fix the damage left behind.  We need it but I don’t have to like it.

😦  Missing my honey.  Long hours this week mean we see each other as we’re crawling into bed at night.  Though if I have to chose between times to be apart, I do prefer to sleep next to him at night, I feel much safer that way, than be alone over night.

CHEESE

🙂  Got to see some of the Tribe last night from the direct sales circles.  Love my gal-pals and it just motivated me all the more!  And I signed up for another direct sales business…jerky!  WOOHOO!  I couldn’t help it, $12 to start another business was too good to pass up and I know SO many folks that love good beef, buffalo and turkey jerky.  They even have jerky for cats and dogs.  LOVE it!  And yes, if you want to sign up under me, I’d love to have you in my downline, just go to my site and follow the links!

🙂  It’s COLD in this office and I am so happy about that.  No complaints, as outside it is SO humid.  I don’t mind, but as one of my favorite weather forecasters here in Cincy said, outside it is “air you can wear”.

🙂  I got my new jammies in my Avon order.  I know that is crazy, but I really do LOVE jammies.  Modest, fun lounge wear styles that I can sport while I take the dog out to pee without giving the old guy next door heart failure.  I may buy a second pair of these, they are so cute.  Coca-Cola ones from Avon.  They will be in an upcoming brochure for those wanting to buy some.  🙂

🙂  It’s dinner with the Divas today.  I enjoy my family and while I’m bummed that I cannot be there with my honey, it is nice to have my Diva time with my mom and sister.

DESSERT

Oops…almost forgot.

This made me laugh out loud, I’ve watched it several times. Enjoy!
