Friday Confessional

Time to get things confessed and off the chest!

I confess…

I am so done with winter weather!  TOO much snow is NOT good for making a happy Marti.  I want sunshine and WARM air, not this cold stuff, not the warming up of the car to go anywhere, it is time.  BE GONE WINTER! It simply is NOT melting and I want it gone, I want to see green grass!

I confess…

Thursday nights I am HOOKED on Scandal!  We Divas get some corn popped and pour some wine into our official, Olivia Pope wine glasses and we kick back.  This pic was from last night, though I didn’t care for the episode.  As the daughter, mom, mother-in-law and girlfriend of a police officer, it’s touchy for me.  I wish the show would let that explosive crap go.  The jury is out around here as to whether we will continue to watch it after last night.  OH, the glasses are available through Crate and Barrel.  23 ounces, and I think $15 each.

I confess…

It is looking like September is the month we move to Sarasota.  I cannot wait.  Meanwhile we are going to be on the beach on Siesta Key come the end of June, soaking up rays.  I cannot wait!

I confess…

While I was hoping for a girl, my daughter let the cat out of the bag, at a fun reveal party last weekend, that she is pregnant with a boy.  Grandchild number 5, the 4th grandson.  My adorable red-headed granddaughter remains the sole grandchick.  She likes that too!  Little baby Jace is due while this Nana will be in Florida, so I’m hoping he comes a week early on my daughter’s birthday, or holds until I get back.  I love this chapter in my life!

I confess…

This Nana is pretty pumped that Avon is coming out with a sterling silver Nana necklace too!  I cannot wait to get mine and wear it.  🙂

Popcorn & Diet Coke

It’s what’s for breakfast!

Seriously, that is breakfast today, after 3 cups of coffee…because it sounded good.  Heck, it’s low fat popcorn and it is fiber, so that makes it healthy, right?  Okay maybe not so much, however it beats a couple of iced and sprinkled donuts.  Not that those were an option, as we don’t have any and this Princess is still sitting here in black lounge pants that are covered in little pink, purple and white hearts, a bright pink sport bra and award winning bed head.  Think ogre, Princess Fiona/Shrek.  Yeah, a trip to the bakery looking like this and all the towns people of Saylor Park would be running for their lives in fear.  Except for Yatz and Angeo.  She’d observe the hysterical masses running down the streets, as she glanced out of the window, and casually remark “one of your sisters must have rolled from the bed to the bakery again”.  So, popcorn and a Diet Coke will work for today.

It is a very lazy morning around here.  Divas Sarah and Jeanne spent the night elsewhere, the rest of us stayed up very late sipping adult beverages on the deck after I got home from a very nice evening out.  But those details will be in the next edition of The Dating Diaries.  It has been a very long time since we all were able to sleep in and just mosie around yawning, scratching our bums and doing NOTHING.  I’m liking it.  Would have liked it a lot more if the cats hadn’t felt the need to come inform me, at 8:30am, that their food and water were empty.  Grrrrr…… though I did get a good night’s rest so I will forgive them, not that they care.

So anyway, now I am sitting here, enjoying my  P!nk’s Greatest Hits  So Far  album, working on posts for this coming week and looking forward to a day with family around the pool.  Note to self: use sunscreen this time, 2 weeks suffering from one sunburn is excessive and not real smart.  I need to make a point of packing lunches and taking the wee ones to my brother’s to swim starting this week.  The free tan that comes from hanging in a pool is the best.

Wine & Cheese – 22nd Serving

Welcome to Wine & Cheese, my weekly, Wednesday whine session.

Every week on Wednesday I devote a blog to whining. Despite being a really happy, positive person, I do have things that annoy me at times.

I never let anything grate on my nerves for long but thought it would be fun to vent them periodically in my blogs.

I also feel that good things, the cheese in life, should be acknowledged as well.

I’m even going to throw in a bit of dessert, a piece of virtual chocolate, something that made me laugh or smile just a bit more than normal.

If you’d like to read the past editions of Wine & Cheese just click HERE for all of the past postings.

Sit back and join me now for the 22nd serving of some wine and cheese!

Microwave Popcorn

While I admit I love the stuff, my all time favorite snack-crack, I have a few things to whine about.  For starters, there is either a bunch left unpopped, or it is a brick of charcoal in the middle.  There doesn’t seem to be a happy middle ground, it is one extreme or the other and all dictated by plus or  minus 10 lousy seconds on the timer.  And then there is the smell..the OH SO wonderful aroma that cannot be resisted.  One Diva pops some and pretty soon everyone has to make it because it is driving us all nuts, calling our name via our noses.  And of course the kernels that get stuck in gums and teeth.  There is  always that one that, long after brushing your teeth, when you are laying in bed, makes itself  known.  You cannot fall asleep because now you are using your tongue to play with it and try to loosen it, then a finger nail, and to no avail.  You cannot leave it alone no matter how hard you try, before you finally have to get up and go floss or tooth pick it out. Assuming of course that you can find these items when you need them.  But that is for a different Wednesday.

Common household dust.  What gives with this stuff?  Pledge, dust cloth, or one of those static charged fancy thingies in hand, I can clean my room to a nice, dust free shine only to be able to write my name on surfaces a few days later.  Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall, cats or no cats, no matter where I have ever lived, I’m plagued by dust!

Line Plants

This one just bugs the snot out of me.  I see it all of the time when shopping at the grocery store.  You scout out the line that appears to have the least wait time, get in it behind someone that has a small number of  items, and next  thing you know they strike.  When they are up to the register, or one away from next, they wave in the air to someone across several check out lanes who shows up with a cart full and says “excuse me, I’m with them”.   Makes me want to take my cart and start bouncing it off their heels, none too gently!  Pick  a  line and get in it, like I did.  Don’t plant folks in different ones then all rush to the first one open, that is just wrong.

Coconut M&Ms are totally the coolest PMS fix of late for me.  I was skeptical to say the least but brave.  Heck I figured I recently tried goat, so why not a new kind of M&M?  OMG I was so glad I did.  Too bad they are limited edition, these are the best M&Ms yet!

Kindles are totally the coolest things going.  I used to get  a hard time in the marital residence for all of the books I  owned, and it was quite a lot I admit.  I love to read and some you just have to own.  Well thanks to my very wonderful children (LOVE YOU GUYS) I am now able to carry the entire collection of books in my purse, car, hand…wherever!  I LOVE my Kindle and highly recommend them.  In it’s case it  feels just like a book, so I still have the feeling of reading one, but better!

Foursquare Mayorships are a blast for me.  I  joined Foursquare unsure if I’d ever use it, and if anything I probably abuse it.  Case in point, I ‘check-in’ to my bed at night.  So does my sister to her bed, referred to as “The  Sandman’s Headquarters”.  Fun was stealing the Mayorship from her  last night.  This has  her a bit creeped out that I am now mayor of her bed. LOLOLOL!  She’ll have to steal it back I suppose.  At last check I was mayor of 16 locations around town!

Meet Me On Monday – 7th Edition

Welcome to the 7th edition of “Meet Me On Monday!”

Blogging is a funny thing…we tell our most intimate thoughts for all to read and yet most of the time I find myself sitting and wondering, “who is this person!?”  I know them…but yet I don’t know them!  I want to know who the person is behind all those words so I thought of a great way for all of us to “meet” each other!

Every Monday our host, Java, will post five get to know you questions that you can copy and paste into your own Monday post and we can all learn a little more about each and every one of us!! Just go to her site (click the icon above or her name) to get the questions and to link up  to those that participate in this blog meme.

1. What one food could you eat every single day?

I think we have established that Chipotle is a favorite  so we’ll deal  with my snack crack addiction, POPCORN!!!!  I could, and often DO eat  popcorn daily.

2. Do you wear glasses or contacts?

Primarily it is contacts.  I generally wear them entirely too  long during the day, and then when I do  take them out I wear my glasses as I cannot see 2 feet from my face and beyond.  Trouble is with age has come the problem if  I correct my distance  with the contacts or glasses,  I  need help reading.  So during the day I wear contacts and pull on readers as needed.  Kinda sucks.

3. What kind of cell phone do you have?

I am a confessed crackberry addict!!! My cell phone is a BlackBerry and I love it,  it is  like having a micro mini of my laptop with me wherever I go! Mine is a BlackBerry Tour, though  the photo is  a Curve.

4. What did you have for dinner last night?

STEAK! Dad buys and we  grill them and have him for dinner a few times a month.  It was YUMMY!!

5. What is your favorite candy?

Oh wow that is so hard to nail down to just one.  My favorite can vary with my mood, PMS, etc. I LOVE dark chocolate, Mounds Bars, Brach’s candy corn (especially mixed with dry roasted peanuts), M&M’s are awesome, and Payday candy bars…like I said, too hard to nail down, but suffice to say I have a sweet tooth and I LOVE candy!

10 Things That Make Me Happy

I’ve recently started following Mama Kat from Mama’s Losin It! and she has a whole boat load of writing prompts as a part of her Writer’s Workshop. My brain is over taxed today so I decided to mosey on over there and snag a prompt for my blog. 10 Things That Make Me Happy seemed like a positive one so here goes:

10 Things That Make Me Happy

Clothes fresh from the dryer, all clean, crisp and smelling SO good!

Finding money in my purse, pants pockets or wallet that I forgot I had placed there.  THAT will always make my day, it is like finding buried treasure!

A pick me up text from my sister-in-law, she always seems to sense when I really need a little cheering from my peanut gallery.

Finding a fresh pot of coffee first thing in the morning because my sister  is up first and has it all brewed by the time my feet hit the kitchen, Boo rocks my mornings!!!

Waking up thinking “ugh I gotta get up for work” then realizing it is Saturday morning, rolling over and going back to sleep!

Fridays!!!  I really love my job, but Friday means sleeping in the next two days and getting to spend more time with my BFF’s, the Diva’s I live with!

Saturday nights!  I love when Diva Sarah finally gets home from work late on Saturday night and we 5 Princesses can sit and sip the wine choice of the weekend and laugh, talk,  cry and otherwise share together.

Curling up in bed at night, Pixel kitten jumps up and snuggles in against my hand, ”grooming” my hand and fingers then puts her head in the palm of my hand and goes to sleep.  She is the little four legged, furry band-aid that has been so important to me as I am healing my broken heart.

Popcorn! My number 2 comfort food, I LOVE the smell and taste of freshly popped popcorn.  It is pretty much snack crack for me and something I just gotta have daily.

Dark chocolate – the NUMBER 1 comfort food  for me.  I do not indulge often but oh the smile  on my face with a bite of it melting slowly on my tongue.  YES that is something that makes me very happy!
