Wine & Cheese ~ 63rd Serving

An assortment of breads, cheeses and two glasses on wineWelcome to Wine & Cheese, my weekly, Wednesday whine session.

Every week on Wednesday I devote a blog to whining. Despite being a really happy, positive person, I do have things that annoy me at times.

I never let anything grate on my nerves for long but thought it would be fun to vent them periodically in my blogs.

I also feel that good things, the cheese in life, should be acknowledged as well.

I’m even going to throw in a bit of dessert, a piece of virtual chocolate, something that made me laugh or smile just a bit more than normal.

WINE

:(  I wish the weather would make up its mind and pick a side…Team Winter or Team Spring.  I think things are off by about 3 weeks here, and so when it would normally be WARM every day, we’re still getting a few chilly ones with frost warnings at night.  While I love the smell of a fire burning (in the fire place) I am over the cold.  My sinuses would probably throw a party.

:(  I love the smell of fresh cut grass, but my allergies are not at all impressed.  Yep I am a hot mess and keeping Kleenex in business.  Very sexy, I know, but then no one sneezes with quite the delicate charm as me.  Time to double up on the Zyrtek.

:(  I have nothing else to complain about.

CHEESE

:)  A lack of things to complain about is a good thing!

:)  The weather today is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G, warm and breezy, blue skies….heaven help me to come back to the office when I run out at lunch, as it is going to be a real temptation to keep on going!

:)  I’m out in front on the Diva Den Biggest Loser contest, down 7 pounds as of yesterday and yes, I am gloating.  *princess waves*

:)  I have stumbled upon the Court Jester, he is attractive and very amusing.  More to follow on that. *wink*

:)  Yummy lunch today!  Subway 6 inch chicken teriyaki with cucumbers, spinach, black olives and onions.  No cheese, no sauce.  Baby angels dancing in my mouth!!

WINE

:(  I am most unhappy with myself at the moment.  I logged in to my Sparkpeople account and was very disappointed in myself.  I had set a goal to get the weight off by my 50th birthday…and I failed.  Mostly because I never bothered to TRY to get it off.  I grew very comfy with the ‘curvy’ me that so many men tell me they like.  But I know it is not healthy and with high blood pressure and heart disease floating in the family, not to mention cancer of a few forms, I need to stop ignoring that my being a few pounds over weight is NOT a good thing.  There is nothing sexy about  poor health.

:(  I forgot my running shoes today.  I don’t run, but I do love to walk and when I was shopping for good shoes the folks in the running store fixed me up with these saying it would be better for me support wise etc.  I meant to bring them so I could walk at lunch.  I have on my work tennis shoes but those aren’t supportive enough.

:(  I just looked up my nightly glass of wine to see how many calories it has, and I’m not happy.  A 4oz glass (seriously who has a 4 ounce glass of wine?? that is a sip!) has 80 calories.  I’ll not be indulging in that for a while.

CHEESE

:)  To make it easier to stay motivated to get the weight off, the 3 oldest of us in the Diva Den are in a friendly little competition of Biggest Loser.  Mom and Boo are doing it through work, I am going up against them at the home front.  I plan to win.

:)  I had such a yummy lunch today!  Subway is just down the street so I opted for a 6 inch sub, building my own online to make it fit my calorie plan before I went to buy it.  Gotta love technology

:)  I love the perks of my job.  Not only my own office, blue jeans is acceptable attire, but I also have a 26″ HD flat screen in my office.  I’m munching lunch, watching the Reds game, and can watch all day if I like while I work.

:)  It is such a beautiful day outside!  I’ve got the office front door propped open, can hear the trains nearby, birds singing, this is really sweet!

Friday Confessional

Photobucket

Time to get some things from this week off of my chest!

I Confess….

I stayed up WAY too late last night.  Scandal was back on, and I had to watch it.  Sure, I could have watched it today on Prime Time On Demand, but it started and I was already curled up under a blanket watching TV so I stayed up.  Not good.

I Confess…

It was not good because this week my sleep patterns are all messed up.  Insomnia combined with night sweats is making it hard for me to get a decent amount of sleeping in, so I’m like a zombie walking around.  While that is mostly due to menopause, it is also somewhat stress as little things this week have all been ganging up on me and I am trying to study for my state exam next week and start two new jobs. UGH.

I Confess…

I am PMSing too…so if you crawl past me too slow and look like you might be packed with fat, sugar and calories, I’m likely to mistake you for junk food.  I’m craving chocolate and ice cream.

I Confess…

When I couldn’t sleep Wednesday  night I started googling what were the best free apps for smart phones.  I found some cool ones to use for my Avon business, some fun games etc.  but I also found one called Tagged.  I assumed it was a social media thing like FourSquare and Twitter, and being a social media junkie I created my profile.  Not sure what it is supposed to really be, but it was like a mostly free dating site or something. Suddenly I was getting friend requests and marriage proposals from all over the world.  Oh and you can “own” each other as pets…I was bought and sold and my value was simply outstanding.  And it drove me bonkers, I couldn’t keep up with all the “attention” so I dropped that one.  I am NOT looking for a relationship so it was a pointless waste of my time.

I Confess…

I am really looking forward to this weekend!  Tonight I am having dinner with a very dear friend.  Haven’t seen him in well over a year and we have a ton of catching up to do.  Both of us headed in new career directions and lots of things have happened to us both over the past year, should be a great, relaxing evening.  Then I hope to spend some time with the grandchildren this weekend, and take my granddaughter out to eat and hang for a bit for a date with granny.

WINE

:(  It is SO dismal outside.  Today it is raining and well that just stinks.  Nothing cheery about it at all.  Snow would be better, at least it is pretty.  And yes, me the one who dislikes cold and winter in general, just said that.

:(   The Walking Dead doesn’t resume until February 10th!!! I am so needing a Daryl fix.

:(   I have laundry to do.  It isn’t that I mind so much, I just don’t FEEL like it.  I’d rather be crocheting for my Etsy shop, or studying for my state test next week, or reading for pleasure…or anything other than the laundry.

CHEESE

:)   Enough whining, life is too short and amazing to have time to be negative today.

:)   My nephew is a total hero, love this kid.  LOVE that he just acted, putting his own life in danger, to save 2 kids who fell through the ice.   http://www.wlwt.com/news/local-news/hamilton-county/Heroes-recall-saving-2-boys-after-fall-through-ice/-/13550662/18060788/-/xvtr65/-/index.html

:)   I LOVE my new phone!  Thanks to Cowboy, and his generous Christmas gift to me, I was able to purchase the Galaxy SIII, and I am in love with my phone now.  I debated between it and the iPhone.  My daughter is a reformed iPhone user, she switched to the Galaxy SIII and loves it far more than she ever did her iPhone.  That was a deciding factor for me, as the woman’s phone is more like an additional appendage to her body, she is always on it texting, talking, using apps etc., so I trusted her.  So far, mama is loving it.  If for no other reason than the screen is so darn much larger!  This matters when one is playing Plague, Inc. you know.  Or using Pinterest. Or getting OLD.

:)   It is SO liberating to just not care some days what I look like.  Today mom needed a ride to work, so after I put the 8yo on the bus (neighbor child I watch in the morning and afternoon), I drove her over to the facility.  I was sporting my best attempt at looking like a homeless bag lady, all the way down to the winter Crocs.  I don’t mean to brag, but I think I nailed it.  Over sized pajama bottoms, hat to cover the bed head, and my broken glasses.  Yep, totally the Crazy Mary attire.  This look, I’m told, is not even close to achievable without the Crocs, as no woman with an ounce of self respect would go out in them in public (don’t hate, it is what I am told).  Stacy London is probably being contacted at this moment to feature me on TLC’s What Not To Wear.   So  proud  of the achievement I’m even going to include a photo for the dessert portion of this post today, because it’s just special.  Completely sizzling sexy!  Try not to be jealous.

:(  I cannot seem to get any relief from my “allergies”.  I’ve determined it isn’t an infection (no I am NOT a doctor and have never played one on TV), as the antibiotics (2 different ones) did nothing for it.  And I’m not getting rid of my cat, so I guess it is suffer through.

:(  I really do not like the change in time, while I’ve adjusted to it over the past few weeks, once it gets dark outside I’m sleepy!  My brain equates darkness outside with bedtime!  UGH.  I cannot wait for longer days with day light at the end of the day rather than the beginning.

:(  OH Kurt Sutter you really do write a great show, I love Sons Of Anarchy, but wow, that season 5 finale was tough!  Much as I hate Clay, what Gemma did to him was just beneath mean.  And then turning on Tara???? OMG I hope season 6 opens with Tara getting off on all charges and beating that woman to a bloody pulp!

:(  What is the deal with all of these winter finales with TV shows?  I have to wait until February to find out if Daryl lives on The Walking Dead!!!!  Not happy about that, or waiting to see what happens on Once Upon A Time.

CHEESE

:)  As we near the arrival of my grandson I’m SO excited!  He is due 12/31 but I will be surprised if my daughter-in-law goes that far.  I cannot wait to hold him!!! :)

:)  The one good thing about this time of the year, old fashioned oatmeal is to die for good!  I love a hot breakfast in winter and I cook it in water via my microwave.  I don’t mess with instant, I read the labels and if I cannot pronounce the ingredients (chemicals) I won’t bother.  Just heat the water to a boil in the microwave (about 1 and 1/2 minutes), then add the measured amount of oats to the water and let sit for a few. OMG SOOOO yummy!

:)  Speaking of oatmeal (and no I cannot explain how I get to this from that), I LOVE me some SparkPeople.com!!!  Down 3 pounds in the first 8 days, and sticking to the determined calorie range for my desired loss goal has been a piece of cake!  :)  Eating much healthier as the choice of healthy foods means I get to eat more!  Best part of course is it is FREE.

:)  I am in that stage of PMS today that brings on the OCD monster in me that makes me need order!  That means I’m doing laundry, cleaning, organizing my walk in closet (again) and purging crap I do not need! I LOVE when this hits.

:(   I finally gave in and admitted that perhaps this isn’t allergies after all.  2 months in and maybe it has become a roaring sinus infection?  Yes I do think so.  Antibiotics, please, do your thing.  I am tired of this insanity and want my nose and ability to breathe through it returned.  Now.

:(  More and more I find the male side of the species less than stellar.  I might be jumping the gun but honestly, I think I fell for the beautifully painted (with words) pictures again of one Long Beach.  I’d love to be proven wrong but I have a feeling that I’m more than right.  Again. About men. grrrrrrrrr  I really wanted to believe this one too.  It was so very well played.   Seriously thinking that I should just sign up for the convent now.  If this all hasn’t been just a game for him, he has a lot of work to do to earn my heart at this point, which thankfully I kept out of the equation.  Oh well, sweet distraction for a while (1670+ texts worth).

:(  It is cold.  Cold enough that when I changed my bedding this morning, I broke down and pulled out the electric blanket.  I am not ready to be cold all of the time, I really prefer it warm!

:(  I am in a serious funk.  I think some of it is the change of seasons.  The pretty part of autumn is now over, we’re left with bare trees and brown grass, and a few dead leaves blowing around.  It is darker far earlier so as soon as it gets dark my mind says it is time to hibernate and it is on with the jammies and a fight to stay awake to watch my shows and work on blankets.  I’m fighting with depression a bit, nothing serious but still just kinda singing the blues of late.  Well not really singing, as that would scare the cats.

CHEESE

:)  One of the college kids at church got a Facebook group going to study the book of Romans together.  Folks are participating from far and wide, 168 of us in fact!  I LOVE this as it helps me to narrow down and focus on passages each week.  Excellent idea, Jessie!

:)  I have an employment option that I may move forward on. Still trying to decide.  Would mean 2 weeks of school to get certified but I could use the extra money so it is nice the option is there.

:)  My friend still had the cheese burger soup recipe! That makes my day.  It is SO good! (I included it at the end of this post)

:)  Our neighbors sold their house!  While we really liked them, I have to admit the lack of a dog barking all day long is a good thing!

This totally cracked me up!  It is posted with much love for my dear friend, the Biker, who has gone through life convinced that females do not burp or fart.

CHEESE BURGER SOUP:

Here is the recipe:
1/2 lb ground beef
3/4 cup chopped onion
3/4 cup shredded carrots
3/4 cup diced celery
1 tsp dried basil
1 tsp dried parsley flakes

3 cups chicken broth
4 cups diced peeled potatoes (1 3/4 lb)
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
8 oz Velveeta, cubed
1 1/2 cups milk
 3/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/4 cup sour cream (optional)
In a 3-qt saucepan, brown beef;drain and set aside. In the same pan, saute onion, carrots, celery, basil and parsley in 1 TBSP butter until vegetables are tender, about 10 minutes. Add broth, potatoes and beef; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer 10-12 minutes or until potatoes are tender. Meanwhile, in small skillet, melt remaining butter. Add flour; cook and stir 3-5 minutes or until bubbly. Add to soup; bring to a boil. Cook and stir 2 minutes. Reduce heat to low. Add cheese, milk, salt and pepper; cook and stir until cheese melts. Remove from the heat; blend in sour cream. Yield: 8 servings (2 1/4 quarts)

:(   I think winter has arrived.  Certainly cold enough when the east side of the city was snowed on, thanks to hurricane Sandy blowing inland.   Now it is just rainy and cold.  This just stinks for little trick-or-treaters!  I recall one year taking my son out when he was little, in several inches of snow.  Not cool.  Thankfully I am a west sider, but still, this just is NOT nice!

:(  I am 2 episodes behind on watching Sons Of Anarchy, I think this is considered a crime.  Have to get caught up on that one.

:(  Feeling a bit frustrated this morning.  My budget is  not allowing for me to get my nails done, and my smart phone is acting like it is riding the short bus of late, and that isn’t in the finances at this point either.

:(  My “check engine” light is on…again.  And those shocks and struts the ex promised to get around to for 2 years before he asked for a divorce, and then promised to handle before I moved out?  Yeah, well those are getting worse by the day.  And there is no extra in the budget for those either. Grrrrrr…….

CHEESE

:)  I’m alive, breathing, walking upright (admittedly with some snap, crackle and pop in the first few minutes of the day), and if the scale is any indication I’m far from starving.

:)  I am warm, cozy, and have my yarn and hook to serve as a therapist so the body count is way down of late.

:)  I’m loved, cherished, worshiped and adored (Long Beach’s words), and seriously what woman would not enjoy that?

:)  I have the most amusing family a woman could ask for, still laughing daily in the Diva Den and my kids and siblings keep that going too.  My life is richly blessed in so many ways!

:(  When I took mom to the doctor the other day, I hopped on the scale so I could see how accurate our home one is.  Sadly, entirely TOO accurate.  Time to pull out the staple gun for my mouth. UGH.

:(  I really need to boost my sales at the moment.  I found about a dozen projects I want to work on and pinned them to my Pinterest board for crochet projects, but currently cannot justify the expense of all that lovely yarn I would need.

:(  I want to have my own Etsy shop, with my sister, for our crochet creations.   But neither of us has the time to create all the lovely throws, baby items etc for the shop.

:(  Autumn is here, and the temps, while super nice today, appear to be headed down by the weekend.  Almost time to pull out the electric blanket and the only one around here who will think that is just wonderful is my cat.

CHEESE

:)  Until Old Man Winter arrives, things are very beautiful outside.  Lots of color and today the temps are amazing!

:)  I am working on a really pretty, somewhat complicated pattern for a another throw just for me.

:)  Great text conversation with Long Beach last night when I was wired out and couldn’t sleep, we are polar opposites which makes for lively exchanges.  He still has it in his head that I’m THE one for him.

:)  Nothing says YUM like left over, black bean chili made with venison.  Especially when the meat was free thanks to my son’s hunting.  :)

:(  Where are the road crews??? I am so sick of driving on rough pavement!  It isn’t pot holes, this is pavement that is all beat up and bumpy, and frankly is so annoying.  Makes the car feel like there might be a flat tire or something.

:(  The new kids on the street seem like a nice bunch, except they have no apparent boundaries.  They just ride their bikes through yards, go into front and back yards of folks they don’t even know, and don’t seem like they get it that when a car is coming down the street, THEY need to move.  My parents would have had a canary if we did stuff like that!  And even my own kids, they knew better than to ride their bikes through someone’s yard or go nosing around other’s property.

:(  Pledge drives on the radio are SO annoying.  Don’t get me wrong, I get that it is necessary to keep a good station like KLOVE on the air, but when I’m cruising along in the car I need music, songs I can sing along too.  It is the only time I get to sing loudly without scaring anyone.

CHEESE

:)  I love my job.  Really love it!  Not only do I make money selling Avon, but I get to help others who need some extra income or a new career to launch themselves toward financial freedom.  I also get to meet and hang out with some of the most awesome women, and a few good men.  Never hurts that I get a sweet discount on products.  Why pay retail when you can get it wholesale?

:)  My allergies are improving thanks to Benadryl now.  I gave up on all the other stuff and just started taking that and it has helped SO much.  I can breathe.  And my cat can hang with me again and not make me sneeze or stuff up my nose.  Which is super nice because we have a routine each night and morning where she comes for a love fest of head and chin scratches and purrs her little whiskers off over all the attention.  Then at night she goes and snuggles against my leg.

:)  The trees are changing, and while I don’t care for the chill in the air, I love all the colors and vivid blue skies that go with this time of the year.  And the smell of fireplaces burning.

:)  Prime time television programming is rocking my world lately.  All of my favorite shows are back on and I am SO loving that.  Especially Sons Of Anarchy.  It is a bit edgy but wow is it exceptional this season.  Kurt Sutter has out down himself this season with the writing of this story line.  Well worth staying up to watch each Tuesday even if it means I’m going to be dragging in the morning.

This is dedicated to both of my children.  My daughter who will get down on the floor at work, alone in a room with a very angry Rottweiler and have him all calmed down in a minute, and my son, the police officer who puts his life in harms way each shift…and yet they both scream like a girl over a tiny little house spider.  They are both into the whole Zombie Apocalypse and planning their teams for surviving it. Yeah, about that.

:(  People who get to the counter at a fast food place, then decide what they want.  And they take FOREVER to make a choice.  Stop talking while in line and figure it out. OR don’t get in line until you do.  The rest of us have somewhere to be too, and that is why we are opting for the fast food option.  You are making it not so fast.

:(  Bullies, of any type!  Especially those in the high school in West Branch who pulled this very mean prank on one of the girls there.  Bullies and stalker types need to get a life.  I even know of one who ended up in psychiatric care, suicidal, and now bullies others!   With any luck the zombies will get them first!  Bunch of jealous, narcissistic psychos. Embrace your awesome, cool self, Whitney Kropp, being unique is what makes you special!

:(  Shame on you, Sons Of Anarchy and writer/producer Kurt Sutter!  I am still in shock after last night’s episode 3 of season 5.  ARGH!!! No No No! Not Opie!!!  Okay it was a fantastic episode, and to be a really great show you sometimes have to kill off a beloved, main character, but wow.  That on the heels of the 1st episode of the season, just WOW.  RIP Opie.

:)  NCIS is back!!!  Drooling over Gibbs (Mark Harmon) is my favorite Tuesday night activity.  That and drooling over Jax (Charlie Hunnam) on Sons Of Anarchy.  YUM!

:( Barking Dogs.  As in the neighbor’s was-very-adorable-but-now-is-a-pain-in-the-ear puppy.  They put the poor little guy out there on a chain in the  middle of the back yard to do his business, and of course leave him there for a while.  He  spends the entire time, once he does  his business which takes all of 43 seconds, barking.  Barking, barking, barking, barKING, barrrrrking….you get it.  Now personally I have to be up early so this isn’t keeping me awake or anything, but it does get very annoying rather quickly.  And now that it is the season of “sleeping with open windows”, doggie is wearing out his welcome.  I’m thinking a bagpipe band practicing at about 6am one Saturday should clear that problem.  I happen to know one too.

:(  Allergy season is in high gear.  Well MY allergies are anyway.  For weeks my eyes have been watering, itching, I’m sneezing constantly.  I’m ready to scream.  Even when the A/C was on, seems that the allergies are king for now.  I cannot believe I’m saying this but I cannot wait for winter.  Time to switch allergy meds, obviously mine is no longer effective.

:(  This Autumn the  trees aren’t going to be all that impressive.  It has been SO dry this summer that we will have a less than colorful changing of the leaves.  It finally rained a decent amount, made the front lawn green and no longer crunchy, but too little, too late for the beauty of the trees.

CHEESE

:)  Sons Of Anarchy season 5 premiered last night and did not disappoint.  The stage is now set for some really crazy plot twists this season.  There were some difficult moments to watch but I’m hooked in and love it!

:)  It is FOOTBALL season!  The Bengals again did not disappoint me, getting their butts kicked by Baltimore 44-13.  Okay yes, it is the first game of the regular season, but face it, THEY SUCK!  But they are my team so I can say that.  At least the Crimson Tide of Alabama is off to a fantastic start in the college football scene.  Hopefully the Colts will bring home a win this weekend.  Bearcats and Buckeyes are off to a good start too! :)

:)  As mentioned, tis the season of open windows!!! Very cool temperatures at night mean sleeping to the night sounds again of crickets and other nocturnal creatures.  I LOVE this!

Many weeks on Wednesday I devote a blog to whining.

WINE

:(  Okay, so it is my own fault that last night I chose to have a few glasses of wine.  Cannot say really that I had too many, but in having a few I was up later than I wanted to be. Again. (hush, Angeo, I hear  you thinking “I told ya so”). Being up meant I was online, on IM, chatting with a friend.  I am dragging today. Again.

:(   My car is still sitting, dead in the garage.  Unless I am mistaken and have missed something, I’m not holding the winning ticket to the Mega Millions lottery drawing from last night so it won’t be fixed anytime soon.

:(   My mojo has been nogo all week so far. Spring fever?  Could be.  I need a swift kick in the motivation.

CHEESE

:)   It is SPRING TIME!!  Temps in the high 70′s and low 80′s the past week mean open windows, birds singing as the sun comes up, flowers on the trees.

:)   We’ve been outside sitting on the deck again.  It rocks. I love warm weather.

:)   Warm weather means my friends that ride will be looking for fender fluff for day trips, *waves hand in air* over here, pick me!

:(  Okay, so it is my own fault that I’ve put on 20 pounds in the past 2 years, and therefore squeezing into old jeans is a bit harder than before.  But I still feel like whining about it. WAAAAAAAAA!

:(   Cats.  I love my cat, I love our little ‘special’ cat that we are pretty sure is mentally challenged, and I love the big tabby.  However I do NOT like ‘crinkle ball soccer’ in my room after I’ve gone to bed.  WHY my room??

:(   24 hours in a day is simply not cutting it.  I need about 48 to get a dent made in all that I need to do over the next 3 days so that on Saturday I can be in wedding mode for my son’s big day.

:(   I didn’t win the lottery.  That just sucks.

CHEESE

:)   I’m slowly out of the gate, training for the big breast cancer walk in October (shameless plug – > see badge on my page, please donate, I need to raise $1,800!).  This means I’m going to shed that 20 pounds!

:)   Because of the training I’m back on my SparkPeople account, logging every morsel going into my mouth, with shocking realization of what I need to change!

:)   I am loving the rich color I have from last night’s dye party!  See the previous post for a review of the hair color product I’m sporting now.

:)   Giggles…gotta love ‘em.  And nothing is as sweet as the sound of baby giggles and full blown belly laughs.  I love my daycare job!

:)   AVON – just LOVE this company, the products, working for myself and making women feel great about themselves both in what they purchase and if they become a rep and I get to train and work with them.

:(  Who released the gloom and doom weather?  Gray, overcast, raining…honestly I’d rather have snow than this!  I cannot believe I just said that, it is 52 degrees, feels like spring time but it is icky outside, not pretty, and frankly that can be quite depressing.  If it is going to be warm then sunshine is in order, that or give us back winter and we’ll deal with the snow and cold, at least it is pretty.

:(   Seriously why do women get all the fun with aging?  I’ve had spurts of hot flashes for years, since my late 30s, with an occasional round of night sweats so intense it made me sick to my stomach.  But for the past month or so I’ve been a walking oven!  Most days are a total waste of makeup by lunch time, I sweat it off!  Even my hair ends up damp and a mess, this is a true pain in the ass!

:(   While I’m whining about menopausal stuff, SLEEP DEPRIVATION!!!  Granted going to bed earlier would help, but regardless of what time I hit the sack I’m awake many times throughout the night.  This is far from restful and makes for me being very tired the next day.  Where do I resign from this chapter???

:(   Everything I read about menopause says it might (key word: might) help to avoid alcohol and coffee.  Really?? Give up my 2 pot a day caffeine addiction and my beer?  Why don’t we just lock me in a padded cell now because that is what is most likely keeping me somewhat sane!

CHEESE

:)   I have my walk in closet back!!!  This past weekend we finally overhauled the basement family room into an Avon office!  All product is on shelves, we have a nice work table and desk, and no more Avon all over the house.  I love it!  I love that I have my closet again too.

:)   I found a new show to get into, making my Sunday evenings something better to look forward too.  My sister introduced me to Once Upon A Time and I am hooked!  She DVR’d every episode and has me up to date.  We have mom hooked now too.  And it is a show that is on at a reasonable time so I can actually go to bed at a decent hour (yeah COULD but won’t).

:)   I got the cutest gift this week in the mail from my buddy, Cinful Cinnamon.  From her Cinful Creations, an adorable pink fabric tote, edged in black feathers that is embroidered “Mother Of The Groom” and a wonderfully comfy neck pillow!  Totally made my Monday!  Thanks Cin!

:)   I get up every morning with a smile on my very sleepy face, thankful that I have the best jobs in the world!  Caring for the baby of a friend (7mths old and ADORABLE) and working my Avon business.  I love this little darling, she brightens every day.  I also love helping other women look and feel amazing with products I’m using myself and can proudly endorse and recommend to others.  Working at home and for myself is the best!  My potential earnings are limitless and I feel a real sense of accomplishment at the end of every day.

:( I hate traffic in the morning.  Especially when the congestion is a full blown tie up on my commute.  Yes, I work at home.  My morning ‘drive’ is from bed, to shower, to the coffee pot.  Or in this case, as I got up late this morning, it was bed to coffee maker, the shower will be later when the baby is napping.  There was heavy cat congestion on the steps this morning heading to the kitchen.  Traffic was backing up and that wasn’t good as I didn’t need much reason to turn around and crawl back into my bed.

:(   Nothing like self-inflicted exhaustion.  At my age I know that being up late equals a rough morning.  Being up night after night into what is really the wee hours of the morning makes for a grumpy, tired, asleep-at-the-wheel daycare provider.  This sitter is running on borrowed energy and an IV-drip of coffee.  Thinking jumper cables are in order, the direct line of caffeine isn’t doing it for me today.

:(   This weather SUCKS.  It’s cold, raining and overcast.  My arthritis in my neck is screaming at me today and the discomfort is giving me a killer headache on that side, bordering on a migraine.  SIGH…needless to say I will be sleeping when the baby sleeps today.

:(   My baby girl called me last night sobbing her heart out so hard I couldn’t even understand her at first.  She walked in her room and found her beloved bird, Lilo, dead in her cage.  My daughter is an animal lover, and gets very attached to her pets.  Just not a good night for her at all.  Then one of her sick bunnies died too.  I hate that I’m not there to hold her while she mourns :(   but I sent a stand in angel in the form of her friend that lives across the street to comfort her.

CHEESE

:)   Nothing beats a job where naps are part of the schedule, and when the ‘boss’ naps, I can sleep too!  I’m counting down the minutes to said moment now!

:)   A nice, warm, relaxing shower, which I will be taking while the little one is asleep, is just awesome.  Nothing says “I feel human again” like your favorite bath gel and shampoo.

:)   Looking out of the window at the rain coming down, while I sit here inside where it is warm, in my jammies, coffee in hand and a fireplace to add to the cozy atmosphere.  Working from home rocks.

:)   A purrrfect greeting from my cat in my ear  when I rolled over this morning.  It always makes my day when she comes to say ‘good morning’.  And to think I used to hate cats!

DESSERT

I really don’t have anything funny to share, so just thought I would share a picture of my baby girl and Lilo.  RIP little bird, thank you for bringing so much joy to my daughter while you were here.

:(   It got cold.  And it snowed.  Not much, but something over a dusting.  And I can still see it out there in the grass.  And it’s cold.  Did I mention it is C~O~L~D???  I hate being cold.  Just wanted to be sure that is clearly understood, I hate being cold.

:(   Daytime television is seriously lacking on entertainment. I’m not a soap opera kinda gal, though I freely admit to having been addicted to that drivel in the past.  I refuse to turn it on, I will only end up sucked in yet again to the insanity of scripts a 5yo could write.  Nothing educational either.  Really, Jerry Springer is NOT entertaining anymore.  You seen one baby’s daddy fight you have seen them all.

:(   Really bummed that many of the blog hops/memes that I loved to participate in have died out.  Not sure why, as most of them had a large following. I always enjoy reading other peoples posts too.  Some of my favorite bloggers have vanished too.

CHEESE

:)   Fireplaces!!! Gotta love a nice, warm fire burning to warm up the family room.

:)   Pinterest – my new addiction.  Oh how I love that site!!!!  If only I had time to make half the crafts and foods I find and pin to my boards.  I’d be big as a barn and covered in glue but oh so happy.

:)   Loving that my morning commute is from my room, to the shower, to the coffee maker.  It may be cold and snowy outside but I don’t have to go out in it!  Working from home and for myself is by far the best employment ever.

WINE

:(    They’re BAACCCKKKK! Those random hot flashes of edging into the menopausal years of life.  I am far less than thrilled.  I get them in spurts, and currently I seem to be within a phase of said self contained tropical climate outbursts, as out of no where I am suddenly so hot that I could defrost a walk-in freezer.

:(   Dust.  I totally dislike dust.  I wish I could blame the cats but even in the marital residence there was an excessive amount of dust, even if we went at it daily.  I wish I had a solution but I don’t.  One furnace was new with great filters etc, one is probably older than dirt.  This just sucks.

:(   Open windows draw cats.  See, windows are kitty cat television.  And an open window is way, high end viewing as the sound is enhanced and there is fresh air.  Hot flashes = open windows next to me even when it is very cold outside.  Open windows = cats sitting on the edge of my desk which = cat hair on the desk, as the little floozies feel the need to bathe themselves in the fresh air of the open window, leaving behind fur.  Dust, cat hair, hot flashes…I cannot win!

CHEESE

:)   I have a new coffee cup.  It is white  outside, PINK inside (instant love) and says JOY in big, pink letters outside.  In the background it says Joy in light pink letters…oh heck I’ll just show you a picture.  I love this cup.  It was time to retire the mug with the cat on it from the Count.  I won’t get rid of it, just not going to use it for now.

I follow the My One Word idea rather than New Year’s resolutions.  Last year my word was SEEK..as I was seeking my way back to God.  I was searching and praying for a word for 2012 and when I received the coffee cup as a gift, I knew my word for 2012 is JOY.  Finding JOY in the Lord first, and then in all things in life, as I believe there is a silver lining of JOY in all things.

:)   Hee hee…knowing where the last of the Christmas tree cookies are hidden, all 4 of them, and  making them into my breakfast because I’m the only Diva awake in the house.  Waahaahaa!

:)   Looking ahead to the new year, planning and writing down my goals, plotting a course toward them.  All the purging I am doing is helping me to focus on what I am keeping in my life and what I can do with it.  And not taking ‘no’ or ‘can’t’ as an option.  I can. I will.

:)   Embracing being a single woman, REALLY  embracing it and all that it means.  It’s truly all about me this coming year and I’m going to make the most of it and run with it.  Male friends are fine, and going out now and then is fine, but this year I want to focus on ME.  Just me, no ‘us’ but just ME.

:(   Week 2 of this sniffles, cold/flu bug thingie.  Okay I AM feeling much better, in fact I feel great!  But my nose just won’t give it up, and I’m sick of blowing it.  I’m single handedly keeping the tissue companies in business and it frankly SUCKS!

:(   Just once I’d love to drink an entire cup of coffee without having to stick it in the microwave half a dozen times.  I pour a cup and the baby I watch poo’s her diaper.  I warm it up and begin to enjoy it again, her nose is running snot candles from her nostrils to her mouth and she needs her sock put back on, toys relocated back within reach and one of the cats is playing soccer with ornaments from the tree…again. Warm it up and the phone rings…you get the idea.

:(   These darn cats are losing their 9 little lives fast!  Well 2 of the cats and it would figure one is mine.  She climbs the Christmas trees (we have 2) and knocks an ornament to the floor at which point the youngest cat starts playing with it.  We redecorate the trees several times a day, they never  look the same twice.  Squirt bottle is pointless, it has become a game to them to see if they can remove an ornament and then dodge the water coming at them.  I give up, they win!

:(   This is the last week I have kids to watch until after Christmas.  They crack us up and make for such a great day, going to miss them over the holidays.

:(   It appears as if my relationship with The Count has come to an end.  This makes me sad.  It hurts.  I’m so tired of having my heart broken.

CHEESE

:)   While the kids are away  for 2 weeks I’ll have all that time to get out and recruit for my Avon business and seek out new customers.  :)   :)   :)   yes this makes me happy!

:)   I finally achieved President’s Recognition Club with Avon, having $10,100 in sales.  I managed to achieve this in 19 campaigns with makes me VERY happy.  I also achieved Unit Leader during that time.  I’m moving up and loving it!

:)   I LOVE all the Christmas music on the radio, and the seasonal music channel on TV, great for the holiday spirit!

:)   FREE books on Kindle!  I keep finding awesome books to get for my Kindle that are FREE and it rocks my world!

:)   Fresh pot of coffee brewing…smells SO good.  Surrounded by family that loves me just for ME not who they hope I will be.  I am so blessed and truly happy despite the  heart aches.

:(   It would seem I’ve angered the Farkle gods on Facebook, been losing a few too many rounds this week and thinking it is a good time to just stop the duels for a bit until my luck turns around.

:(   Most all of the gorgeous leaves have  fallen and blown away, now the trees are bare and things are a bit dismal outside.

:(    3  of my crumb crunchers will be moving on very soon.  They need to go where vouchers are accepted.  I will miss their cute little selves.  They came into my life at a financial transition time when I really needed the money.

:(   Shame on stores that will be opening on Thanksgiving and making employees work when they should be home with families!

:| Just not much to really whine about, too many silver linings in the clouds of life of late!

CHEESE

:)   The loss of the 3 little  ones frees me up just when my Avon business is taking off, allowing me to have a lot more time to devote to it and build it.  I’ll still have the 5 month old and the 7yo after school for now so that is something to smile about!

:)   I won’t have to go out and drive in the winter.   Don’t mind it but really hated the responsibility of having another person’s child in my car to and from school if the weather was going to be bad.  I’ll get to stay inside, in front of the fire place, sip my coffee or tea and watch the snow fall!

:)   I love that I work from home, in my sweats, socks or jammies, on the deck in warm weather and in front of the fire in cold. I am blessed in so many ways and that is just one of them!  Little things just tickle me!

:(   It is absolutely dreary outside today!  Rainy, overcast, gray, trees are bare, it just isn’t much to look at!  I don’t mind rain, I get that we need it, but this is the 3rd day of this yucky-ness, I’m over it, where is the sunshine?

:(   I’m really disappointed in the stores that are opting to open on Thanksgiving.  I remember growing up that nothing was open on Sunday or holidays.  You had to plan  ahead.  In the name of profits more and more places are remaining open on Sundays and now holidays.  Shame on those stores that are making employees come to work to open a store at 9pm or 11pm or even midnight!  Open Black Friday at a DECENT hour, people  will still come and shop.  Let the employees enjoy their day with their families.

:(   The  baby I watch has the sniffles bad today.  Poor thing, I have to keep wiping her nose which is less than thrilling to her.  Makes drinking her bottle a real chore for her too.  I feel so bad for her.

The little butterball I babysit

:)   Despite her little  cold/sniffles issue, she is a happy baby!  She is just adorable and makes me smile.  I love watching her, she gets that ‘baby fix’ filled for me until my kids start having children of their own.

:)   I had a wonderful day Sunday with my honey, Steve.  I usually hate shopping, but with him it is fun.  Throughout the day  little touches, kisses, and him holding my hand let me know that I am special to him. I never need to seek reassurance of his feelings, I am told, every day multiple times a day.  One of my favorite quotes from The Single Woman: “Sometimes life sends us people  who don’t love us enough, to remind us of what we are worthy of”.  I’ve been loved in the past, but not nearly enough, and not nearly as much as I loved in return.  To finally be loved as I am worthy, well that is reason to smile!
