My Answers:

1.  What is your favorite kind of soup? 
WOW that is a tough one, as I really do not have a favorite.  My ex makes one called Cheese Burger soup, the recipe came from someone we went to church with, and that might possibly be the favorite.  Hmm, in fact I think I will contact the source and see if she still has that recipe, it is to die for delicious, and if she gives it up, I’ll post it!

2.  When is the last time you saw snow? 
Last winter!  This area of the country (southwest Ohio) sees its share of snow in winter.  Not usually a mega bunch like other areas, but we’re good for several decent snow falls each winter.  Personally I’m a fan of it on Christmas Eve after I go to sleep, it can snow several inches, we can wake to a white Christmas, then the crap can melt on December 26th and not return until Christmas Eve the next year.

3.  What is a must have trait if someone is going to live with you? 
A really good sense of humor and playful spirit.  Life is too short to take it all so seriously, and I like to have fun and laugh, a lot!

4.  Who was your favorite James Bond? 
Sean Connery without a doubt! OMG I still think at 82 the man is sexy!

It’s Monday, time for the Monday Quiz About Me meme/hop.   Been a while since I did this one (was Meet Me On Monday), figured it is a good place to get my Monday morning juices flowing.

Do you consider Halloween a holiday for children or adults? 

I think it is for both!  Different ages enjoy different aspects.  I still enjoy getting dressed up for a night of fun, but then I am rather in touch with my inner child still.  It keeps me young and keeps the magic in life flowing.

At what age should children stop trick or treating?

I think as long as they are respectful, and their costumes are really good (no smearing dirt on your face and calling that a costume), then I have no problem with them going all the way through high school.  Heck I did it!

What are your plans for Halloween?

Well not entirely certain to be honest.  Our first year in this house we pulled out the fire pit and sat outside like my former neighborhood (that street rocked Halloween) but we only had 14 kids.  And our neighbors over here just aren’t all that friendly.  Last year we went down to my brother’s, sat around the fire pit in the driveway, handed out candy and ate pizza.  It was a blast.  Kinda hoping for an invite back! (HINT)

What frightens  you?  

I am terrified of fire, afraid of the dark, terrified of heights, afraid of bad storms.

1.  How  do you like your eggs?

Scrambled or an omelet for me.  Don’t like fried eggs, or hard  boiled.  Sometimes soft boiled with pieces of bread broken up in them are good,  the way mom made when I was a kid. But over all just good old scrambled is best.

2.  Who is the last person you spoke to on the phone?

The last phone call was from my mom yesterday.  She was at the grocery store and needed to check if we had something in the pantry.  Text was with the mommy of the baby I watch telling me she’d be early today.

3.  Do you have a place you keep “junk” in your home?

We have a ‘junk drawer’  in the kitchen for odd things like lint rollers, batteries, scotch tape etc.  I really don’t have anything else that is for junk or a catch all spot.

4.  What is on your ‘spring cleaning’ list?

Hmmm….nothing really? Well the garage maybe but that really is it, we clean almost every weekend around here.

5.  What blog post have you written recently that  you’d like more people to know about?

Honestly? I have no idea.  My readership has been going up in numbers and I don’t really have any one particular one that stands out at this moment.

1.  What are  your plans for St. Patrick’s Day?

Mine are the best plans of all!  My oldest child, my son, is getting married!  A wedding complete with green dresses and a bagpiper (my son plays but is having a friend do it this time), it will be a wonderful way to celebrate both the day for Irish and my son’s next chapter as a husband and step-father.  My son has a good deal of Irish heritage so it is just the perfect day!  I also officially become a grandma that day to his bride’s 6yo daughter.

2.  What is your favorite room in your house?

MY room!  I love my bedroom, it is decorated to my taste, in a very relaxing and soothing peach color.  It is my haven, where I go to unwind, relax, be on the computer or sleep.

3.  What ‘gadget’ do you have that you can’t live without?

My cell phone.  I can access everything on it that I do on my laptop, and text, talk etc.  It is a rare moment that the phone is not next to me.  Recently I discovered the app, Heytell, so instead of texting, I can just record a voice message and hit send.  I like it.

4.  What will your first thought be when you learn that you won a lottery?

RELIEF!  Not sure what it is about divorce that leaves one spouse hurting so much financially but mine did!  And winning a lottery, a small one, would get me back out of debt and on top of things again.

5.  Other than Acting Balanced and your own, what is your favorite blog to read?

I have SO many favorites, but without a doubt one of those is Cinnamon’s Spicy Life, a frank look at life through the eyes of a friend located in the Sunshine State.  If you enjoy someone that just calls ‘em as she sees ‘em, she is your go to girl for a good read!

It’s been several weeks since Java at Never Growing Old posted a set of Meet Me on Monday questions, but we’ve been missing it – so Acting Balanced decided to resurrect the idea and starting today she’ll be posting 5 questions on Sunday evening along with a linky for you to link up your post answers!

Acting Balanced

1.  Are you planning anything for Valentine’s Day?

That would be a huge NO!  I jokingly refer to it as ‘Single Awareness Day’ and think it is a nothing but a big scam by greeting card and candy companies. It is also a guilt driven reason to show some token of affection, which I wrote about last year in my post, My Favorite Valentine Tradition.  I don’t want, need or even appreciate anything on that day from anyone professing to love me.  Do it another day when the rest of the world isn’t, because you thought of me and wanted me to know you love me.  If you do it for Valentine’s Day, then I cannot help but believe that is the reason you did anything, out of fear of being a dolt and not because there is a true desire to show affection.

2.  What song automatically popped into your head when you saw this question?

Seriously, some dumb song I cannot even sing more than a line or two of because that is all I know, from a goofy animated, singing thing we found at Walgreen’s.  I was out shopping with my sister and I happened upon it.  I suggested my brother needed this at the firehouse to amuse himself and the other firefighters.  Here is a small video clip of the insanity that I took before we dropped it off to him at work yesterday.

3.  What did you have for breakfast today?

Nothing yet other than coffee.  It is only 7:08 and I rarely eat at this hour.  I need to be up a few hours before I can handle food.

4.  Where do you keep your keys?

I keep my keys in my car.  I park in the garage so I see no reason to take them out of the car or then I never seem to be able to locate them!

5.  Who was your favorite teacher from when you were in school?

Mr. Peter from English I and later Creative Writing when in high school.  He always challenged us and he and I would go head to head now and then.  I actually learned much about myself as a person thanks to him those two classes.

1.  Wrapping paper or gift bags?

Both!  Depends what it is, how big it is etc.  Odd shaped things just go better in bags.

2.  Real or artificial tree?

Artificial.  I was married to a fire fighter both times I was married.  I had a real one until the year my son was born, then after seeing a video on how fast a tree goes up and how fast the fire  multiplied I wasn’t comfortable having real with a baby in the house.  After that pre-lit trees hit the market and the fact that I like to put it up the day after Thanksgiving (if not way sooner) artificial became the way to go.  Now, here in the Diva Den with mom, my sister and nieces, we have a huge house so we have 2 trees, one in the living room and one in the family room.

3.  When do you put your tree up?

Either the day after Thanksgiving or sometime the week before.  I love Christmas and cannot get enough of it.  This year, because we had a holiday open house with our Avon business and that stuff is out early, it was actually up 2 days before Halloween.  :)   A record for us!

4.  When do you take your tree down?

Usually the week after New Year’s Eve.  Personally I’d leave it up all year, call it a ‘holiday tree’ and decorate it for each holiday throughout the year.  Haven’t had a lot of support around here on that idea.

5.  Do you like eggnog?

Oh yes!  Leaded (spiked) or unleaded.  This time of year the local UDF (United Dairy Farmers) and McDonalds have eggnog shakes, a holiday favorite of mine!

6.  Do you have a nativity scene?

Yes we do!  Growing up was one my dad made, then my kids bought me one for Christmas one year (I got it early) and I still have it.

7.  Favorite Christmas Movie?

Hands down my favorite is “It’s A Wonderful Life”.  Makes me always stop to count my blessings and appreciate the things I have and the things that have happened in my life.  Only the black & white version will do, and it is tradition to watch it on Christmas Eve.  Especially this Christmas, as we are very tight on money and there won’t be much under the tree, we’re focused around here on the fact that all 5 of us are home for the holidays and thankful for our family and friends, things money cannot buy that are truly priceless.

8.  Favorite Christmas Cookie?

OH Christmas trees made from a Mirro cookie press (the OLD ones that are hand cranked).  The recipe is inside the box and it is the best cookie ever!  My son can knock out several dozen in one sitting and that is his favorite as well.

9.  Where  will you eat Christmas dinner?

Right here with my parents, sister and her girls and our future (though to us she already is) sister-in-law and hopefully her daughter.  My son is on duty, so is one of my brothers (cops and firefighters) but hopefully my other brother and my daughter will drift in.  Anyone is welcome to come share the day with us, it is a time for sharing love and we have plenty to go around!

10.  Angel, bow or star on top of your tree?

Well it would be an angel but she isn’t being cooperative and staying put (not that the 3 felines scaling the tree might have anything to do with that) so it’s a bow on both trees.

11.  Most annoying thing about this time of year?

The commercials and attitude of people in stores.  This isn’t about gifts, and even if you don’t celebrate the birth of Christ, it is a time of year to spread joy and love.  I hate the commercials with people giving cars and diamonds etc.  Give me an old fashioned Christmas like on Little House On The Prairie where one gift was it and it was something significant in meaning.

12.  Do you like fruitcake?

Actually yes I do, SOME of them anyway.  There are some that are well not so much but others are yummy with a cup of coffee.

13.  What are you most excited about the holidays?

Just being together, the decorations, the time to reflect on the blessings that are the true gifts we receive each year, and be with my family.

14.  Do you open presents Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?

Both!  We have a huge family gathering on my mom’s side where it is on Christmas Eve, though no gifts this year for the first time in my 48 years.  And then as more immediate family in the morning.

15.  Will you still be wrapping presents Christmas Eve?

It wouldn’t be the first time if I was, but this year no it will all be done ahead of time.

My Answers!

1. Tomorrow (Monday) I’m going to__________?

Work!  I watch this adorable little crumb cruncher each weekday, and I watch her 7yo cousin before and after school.  In addition I work for myself as an independent sales rep for Avon so I have that business to run on the side as well.  I’m always looking for go-getters that want to earn extra money or a serious living working on my Avon team, doesn’t matter where you live, I want you if you want to work for yourself!

2. Pudding or Jello?

OH pudding for certain.  Jello is diet food or hospital food to me.

3. What book are you currently reading?

The book is called “The Business Of The 21st Century” by Robert Kiyosaky, in an effort to really grow my Avon business I read a lot of such books.

4.  What is the first concert you went to see?

Good grief, NO idea. It was when I was in high school and it was at King’s Island but for the life of me I cannot remember who it was.

5. What is your current weather?

COLD!  21 degrees and while it will be sunny today there is frost on everything :(   I don’t care for winter, give me 90 and humid any day.

My Answers!

1.  Monday’s are ______? 

ROUGH!  I mean, I am thankful to be employed and starting the work week headed for the paycheck on Friday is always good, but I have to start waking up at 5:30am and frankly that sucks.  It takes a lot more coffee for me to pull up out of the funk on Mondays.

2.  What is your favorite kind of milkshake?

OH without a doubt, UDF’s (United Dairy Farmers) Eggnog milk shakes!!!  Only available during the holidays, they are to die for yummy and my very very (did I mention very?) favorite!  McDonald’s version does run a good second.

3.  What monthly bill do you most dislike paying?

I hate them all equally because it means I am in debt to someone somewhere.  But I’m working on that.

4.  How many email addresses do you use on a regular basis?

Just 2 at the moment.  One is my every day/family/friends one, and one dedicated totally to my Avon business.  That is MORE than enough.  However I do have more and they are getting shelved here soon.

5.  What color lights are on your Christmas Tree?

Both!  We have 2 trees in our house, one in the living room with white lights, and one in the family room with multi-colored lights.  We get into Christmas around here :)

1.  I wish I had more time to…..

READ!  First and foremost anyway.  I have SO many books downloaded to my Kindle for work that I want to get read just have so little time between daycare during the day and Avon in the evenings.  I usually fall asleep reading because I am just exhausted.  If I try to read during the day, someone will poo their diaper, need a nose wiped, be hungry…you get the picture.

I would love more time for my Avon business too!

2.  What is your favorite kind if soup?

Wow, that really is mood dictated.  On a snowy day nothing beats a grilled cheese sandwich with a side cup of tomato soup.  If suffering a cold or flu, bring on the home made, chunky chicken  noodle!  Or turkey noodle.  And other times, well stew is awesome.

3.  Where will you eat Thanksgiving dinner?

At home with my family around me, just the way I love it!  Mom, sis, nieces, brother Yatz and Angie, and my kids will hopefully stop in too.

4.  What is your favorite time of day?

Evening, when all the kids have  gone home and the Avon work is done and I can curl up in my pink Snuggie with a cup of Sleepy Time tea and watch TV or  read.

5.  Did you start Christmas shopping yet?

Oh yes!  I try to start early whenever the money is there to begin and I have! Now the key is to FINISH!

My Answers!

1.  Does your family/friends know about your blog?

Yes, my family, friends,  the ex-husband, the kids, guys I dated off the online dating sites (some of them even subscribe to it!) and yes, Steve knows and to my knowledge doesn’t read it but supports me, probably the only people that really don’t know about my blog is the current neighbors.   I have an open door policy for my blog.  Though I admit, parts are password protected, and I DO post on a site  where I can let it all loose when I just need to vent without hurting feelings.

2.  What is your favorite card game?

That  would be Rook (aka Baptist Bridge).  I really am not much of a card player but I really like Rook…I GET IT  so it is a good game!

3.  What do you wear to bed?

Well…jammies until I am IN the bed.  Then partial jammies.  No bottoms as nothing bugs the crap out of me more than getting tangled in my jammies so I remove those.  They are close by lest the house catch fire and I have to hang my big white butt  out of the window naked.  NOT good fodder for the community press or the 11pm news.

4.  What is your favorite kind of French Fry?

Regular old fries….used to be McDonald’s but they got all healthy and ruined the flavor.  Now, I suppose White Castle is good, Burger King….just fries, ya know?  For the most part I haven’t met a french fry I didn’t like.

5.  What is your usual bed time?

Well I aim for 10pm but lucky to get there at 11pm most nights.  Once in a while  I am just too tired and go earlier but that is  rare.  11pm ish  so to speak would be my regular bed time.

My Answers!

1. What is your favorite food?

Seriously hard to nail down just one, as I LOVE food!  But by far one of my all time favorites is a Chipotle steak bowl with rice, black beans, corn salsa and cheese.  Only variation in what I get there is sometimes chicken rather than steak.  Oh and always chips, I use the chips to scoop and eat! YUM!

2.  What color scheme is  your bedroom?

The walls are painted Chai Latte, kind of a warm peach color.  All accents (curtains, bedding etc) are black and white.  I love my room, it is my nest and haven.

3.  Do you carry a donor card?

No, but my drivers license is flagged as an organ donor.  I am a huge supporter of organ  donation as a dear friend’s son was born with heart valve issues and required a valve replacement at 5 months old.  Someone  had to lose their precious child of 3 years old, but they lovingly gave the gift of life to countless other children by donating parts of that angel.  I cannot imagine NOT donating my organs.  Or blood on a regular basis for that matter!

4.  In your opinion, is the glass half empty or half full?

Full…only far more than half, about 95% full.  And I believe that is all attitude.  It isn’t our circumstances,  it is how we respond to them that makes life great!

5.  Vanilla or  Chocolate?

Chocolate…preferably dark chocolate.  :)

My Answers!

1. What is your favorite yogurt flavor?

I don’t have a favorite, I just love yogurt!  Unfortunately I cannot eat it.  When I add it to my diet it brings my Ulcerative Colitis out of remission.  It totally bums me out as I really enjoy it for breakfast.

2. Ankle or knee socks? and on the same theme, white socks or coloured??

Neither…I wear footie style socks that you cannot see when I have gym shoes on.  I tend to only wear socks around the house and even outside as I hate shoes, so I go through a few dozen pairs a year.  Oh and always white.  Makes mating socks so much easier.

3. How is the weather right now?

AWESOME!!!  Was sleeping weather over night.  Currently 61 degrees, going to be a warm 77 degrees and partly sunny today.

4.  Are you a fast typer?

Oh yes, VERY fast, even with very long nails.

5.  Red or White Wine?

Either!  Not real into what is a good wine etc, I just either like it or I don’t.

My Answers!

1.  Caesar Salad or Garden Salad?

I am a garden salad kinda girl.  The more crap in the bowl the better!  Topped off with fat free French or Italian Dressing.  Honestly could just make a meal of the salad.

2.  Will you be watching the Royal Wedding on April 29th?

Honestly could not care less about the royal wedding, so that would be a big NO.  I don’t watch much TV as it is, so the thought of spending hours watching this production….just hours of my life I cannot get back.

3.  Last thing you spent lots of money on?

That would be my cell phone.  Love it but ridiculously expensive and if it weren’t for my addiction to so much stuff I need this phone to do, I’d be kicking myself.

4.  Window seat or aisle seat?

How  about neither??? Drop dead terrified when flying, HATE IT!  IF I fly it has to be the aisle, way too claustrophobic as it is and by the window I feel trapped.

5.  Do you know your blood type?

1.  What is your favorite way to eat potatoes?

Mashed with some butter and salt, or gravy, or heck even both!  But mashed and smashed  is the way to go for me!

If my memory serves me correctly,  it was Pro Active Solution for my niece.

3.  What is your favorite scent that y0u love to smell?

That is a tough one, as I love many scents at different times of the year and for various reasons.  For the sake of an answer, cinnamon candles, specifically Wood Wick cinnamon  sugar cookie!

4.  Do you smoke?

Not anymore. I used too, but I quit 26 years ago  this coming July 4th.

5.  Are your parents married or divorced?

My parents divorced after 27 years of marriage.

1. Do you like your ice cream in a dish, waffle cone, pretzel cone, sugar cone or cake cone?

If I am eating my ice cream in a cone, it has to be a waffle cone, preferably one that the end has been dipped in chocolate and nuts or sprinkles.  The way I see it, if  I am going to indulge in something fattening I might as well go all the way with it, right?

2.  Do you read the newspaper daily?

Honestly it is rare that I bother.  If I do take time to read it then I do it online but most of the time it just ticks me off so I tend to avoid it.  On Sunday I will read the comics and browse the coupons but beyond that I have little use for the newspaper anymore.

3.  Marinara or meat  sauce?

OH meat sauce!  I am not picky if it is ground beef, chicken or turkey, as long as there is meat in that sauce, YUM!!!!

4.  Last time you cried?

Hmm..I teared up in church a few times Sunday.  And then again at home while writing my blog yesterday but that time it was happy tears.  :)

5.  What word/phrase do you really find annoying?

I truly detest this phrase, it is just dumb. Of course it is what it is, as if it is something else?

2.  Are your toes always painted (sorry guys…this question for girls only)?

1.  Nope I have never won first place in anything that I recall.

2.  MOST of the time my toes are painted but not lately, just have not had the time.

3.  My eyes are grey, though a friend has seen them actually change color to a deep blue and then back to grey, while he was looking at them.  My emotions seem to dictate that.

4.  To my left is the boss’s desk across the office from mine and the door out to the shop.

5.  SOFT cookies, fresh from the oven, still gooey and warm!!!!
